NYC Pop-Up Recap

June 18, 2019

It was a 3-day event filled with fun & curated activities, including floral arrangement, DIY hair styling, and mini-facials

If you follow us on Instagram and have signed up for our newsletter, you might know that we held our first official pop-up at the Gregory Hotel in NYC not too long ago. It was a 3-day event filled with fun & curated activities, including floral arrangement, DIY hair styling, and mini-facials. It truly was a great way to kick-off Summer while introducing our new Summer Capsule Collection.

Currently available online, the Summer Capsule Collection features two white cotton tees, a pearl beaded bag, pearl bobby pins, and skinny scarves. These are items that you can easily mix & match with your existing Maggie Wu Studio pieces.

Day 1 - Breakfast & Blooms

On the first day of our pop-up, we invited bespoke floral design studio Park and Bloom to show guests how to do DIY bouquets while enjoying croissants and bites for breakfast. What could possibly be better than breakfast & flowers on a gloomy morning?

Owner & floral designer Sarah McErlean dressed up the space with elegant flower arrangements that feature a soft pastel palette. She also added a soft pink anthurium, otherwise known as the Flamingo Flower, to our Riri Pearl Beaded Bag; we found it hard to separate the two throughout the pop-up event. Guests walked away with very own bouquets that they can keep for the days to come.

Day 2 - DIY Hairstyling

On the second day of the pop-up, we showed people the various hair styles that can be done using our hair accessories. So many people left with chic looks that day. It’s fun to see how many ways you can style our items on different types of hair. They are truly versatile and can dress up any summer look easily!

Day 3 - Mini Facials

Self-care is an important aspect of our brand, as we are always encouraging women to celebrate their moments big and small. For the third day of the pop-up, we partnered up with Brooklyn-based natural beauty brand Malaya Organics. Using only ethically-sourced ingredients, Malaya Organic’s handcrafted products are rich in nutrients and known for their antioxidant properties. The mini facials offered on-site by makeup artist Ta Ming Chen featured our rose quartz facial roller and comb. Our guests walked away feeling relaxed, refreshed, and with a natural beautiful glow on their faces.

To celebrate the success of our first pop-up and to kick-off to a fabulous Summer, we ended our last day of our 3-day event with a Summer Cocktail Party. We introduced our new Summer Capsule Collection. The response has been so positive that we had a hard time keeping some of our samples on the shelf as people wanted to buy them on the spot.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our brand partners. The pop-up would not have been possible without everyone’s support!
