Setting Intentions with Kristine Lopez

January 22, 2019

I share this to anyone who may not currently be in their dream job or career: to find opportunities to learn and invest in yourself. All your experiences whether it seems ‘good’ or ‘bad’ will guide you to your passions and purpose. You may find that where you currently are will unexpectedly lead you to where you’re meant to be.

This past month, we worked with Los Angeles-based photographer Kristine Lopez to capture the images that is currently on our home page. We discovered Kristine via Instagram and felt an instant connection to her. Everything from the morning routines to the tea ceremonies and the wellness retreats she carves the time out for herself just resonated so well with us. In this day & age, it is so easy to feel the need to keep pushing out content for the sake of having content, but everything Kristine puts out into the world, is well thought out and filled with intention. We caught up with her to discover the story behind her entrepreneurial journey and how she aligned her beliefs with her business, Nature & Intent.

Where is your hometown & where are you based?
I currently live in in Santa Monica, California. Originally born in Manila and grew up in Los Angeles. Home is anywhere sunny with palm trees.

Can you tell us a bit about your entrepreneurial journey and how you started Nature and Intent ?

My Intention
For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to consciously contribute to society and make a meaningful impact. I graduated with a degree in Public Health with the intention to work for a non-profit organization in the health industry, but ended up working various jobs in fashion, accounting, sales, PR, and marketing.

Pivoting Careers

While pursuing different jobs, I also built a fashion brand designing and producing clothing and jewelry for local boutiques and customers worldwide. But after a few years of solopreneur burn-out, I closed down my fashion brand to work full-time at a Photo agency in Venice. Pivoting careers was one of the hardest decisions of my life. But that saying that “everything happens for a reason” is so true. What manifested from my last job as a Finance Manager ultimately led me to my dream career working with brands as a Photographer and Consultant.

Working closely with small business owners and startups led me to organically offer brand and business consulting. My career started over a decade ago with my fashion brand, then pursued various job experiences where I accumulated a holistic skillset in business, creative, marketing, and production.
A few years ago, I connected back to my initial intention of creating a meaningful impact. It wasn’t crystal clear then how I could manifest that intention but I followed my passions. I’m currently celebrating 3 years of pursuing my passion and dream career full-time as a creative and conscious entrepreneur.

Nature and Intent
In 2018, I launched Nature and Intent to house all the services I offer to support conscious driven brands and individuals. It’s been received so well by my clients and community. Feel so immensely grateful that I get to hire and work with kind and talented creatives. We support clients with creative services, authentic marketing, and experiences. This year, we are creating more opportunities for meaningful offline connections.

When did you develop a habit of setting clear intentions and how has that changed your life, both personally and professionally?
Living my Nature and Intent
In 2014, I was experiencing a lot of internal shifts and started doing a 40 day writing and mindfulness practice through Gabby Bernstein’s “May Cause Miracles” guide book. This practice involved daily writing, gratitude lists, and shifting every thought of fear into love. It may sound very cheesy and new-age, but this practice reprogrammed my mindset. The writing also helped me clearly write out my intentions. When I started sharing my conscious perspective and intentions on both my DIARY and INSTAGRAM, I attracted the best clients I could ever dreamed of and connected to a supportive conscious community offline.
An integral part of my offerings is realizing a vision for others and setting the intention to manifest it. I’m incredibly blessed to live my nature and intent which is my authentic essence and purpose. One of my intentions for this year is guide others to live their nature and intent.

Do you have any specific daily/monthly/yearly rituals that you adhere by?
I journal and meditate almost every day and cultivate inner strength through a daily Kundalini kriya in the morning. I make it a point to cook at home, practice self care, and connect with friends. I connect to nature and community through a tea ceremony practice called Cha Dao. Throughout the month, you can find me hosting or attending a creative workshop, women’s gathering, moon circle, or wellness event. Once a year, I carve out time for a digital detox and do a solo retreat.

What tips would you have for someone who is just starting to get into making a conscious effort of setting clear intentions?
I think it’s important to know the why behind your goal or resolution. If you can clearly define why you want to manifest an intention, you will connect to it in a deeper way. I would recommend journaling to allow yourself to free flow
We’ve also released a Conscious Creative Workshop through Nature and Intent. This workshop is a guided experience to set your intentions, consciously map out your dream year, and live your authentic essence to align with your purpose.

Where are some places in LA that you would recommend for someone interested discovering more about the wellness world?
WMN Space is a lovely gathering place for women in service to their healing. I also attend tea ceremonies and spiritual gatherings at a space called Ayam. You can also follow and sign up to Nature and Intent Community List for upcoming conscious events and wellness gatherings in Los Angeles.

Thank you Kristine for sharing your story with us. In honor of January being the month to restore & reset your intentions for the year, we are doing a Self-Care Set Giveaway in partnership with Kristine. See our Instagram for details. Hope you will have a wonderful & intentional year.
